BIOGRAPHIE

BIOGRAPHY

Stanley Zonk is a photographer who lived and worked in New York at the end of the last century. Born on July 22nd 1940, he would be 68 today. Missing after 9/11, he allegedly died below the rubble of the twin towers.

Major but discreet player of the Manhattan esthetic scene, he inspired most avant-gardes and revolutions in graphic arts and photography from the 60s to the 90s. Sculptor of light, he paradoxically chose to stay in the shadows and refused systematically the smallest particle of fame. Though known only to a happy few, everyone could feel his presence.

Sought after by the brightest, he remained accessible to the Humble: anyone could claim his legacy even though no trace, no photography, no negative could materialize his work. But what's for sure, to know him would put you on the path...
